More and more people are employed as managers who do not have the necessary soft skills and know-how. Employers and managers must fulfill their duty of care and create framework conditions that prevent bullying or bossing. Studies from recent years show, for example, that just 39% are "satisfied" with their manager. A 2019 study even shows that 73% of all sick days are due to poor leadership and poor working conditions. Legal framework conditions for dealing with subordinate personnel are often not clear and so there are always violations of the working time and occupational health and safety laws. But also the question: "Who has something to say here?" Is often not exactly answered.
In a company, everyone is a manager who actually leads people by giving work instructions, assignments or the like, verbally, in writing or in some other form. A manager is anyone who assigns employees, even if only for one project, and gives them tasks. As a result, everyone who does this regularly has to be trained, trained and continuously trained himself. The goal of good leadership should not be sales. The aim should not be to reduce fluctuation, increase sales or make guests / customers / visitors more satisfied. The above points are likely to materialize if well managed. But they should be just as pleasant side effects as a high profit for entrepreneurs or a high salary for employees. The activity that is fun and promotes the entire environment should be the goal.
Conclusion: good leadership starts at the top.
If "good leadership" is only a means to an end and if all levels of management are not without exception prepared to critically question themselves, their methods and their behavior, so good leadership is not at least about to become a substantial part of corporate culture, it can become one Number of negative problems. The consequences are e.g. B. high sick leave, increased staff turnover, lack of commitment to poor performance of the subordinate staff.
It doesn't have to be!
